oslo, art, trip, travel thinking
Just a couple of months ago i was travelling with Nina to Oslo, it's so incredible what happened and i'm really worried for Andrea, my swedish friend who lives there, i tried to put myself in contact with her, hope she will reply soon. It's so unbelievable that in a place i visited in April -a place that seemed so quite and peacefull- something like that happened and now everything is changed. Me and Nina were actually pleased by the calm atmosphere of that place, i can't believe, and i am so sorry that now people won't feel anymore safe to walk around. I saw some picture of the main square, close to the sea and to the Nobel Peace Prize Museum: it was completelly full with flowers, and i recalled the moment i was walking there with Nina, we felt anything could happen there. Nordic countries make you really feel you're secure even in the darkest road of their towns. As i lived in Denmark and visited Sweden, Finland and Norway i've never felt so secure. I really hope that norwegian people will find soon safety again.
What's the best cure for tragedy? There's no magic pill or fluid to take.To do what? Forget? Forgetting is not a solution, nor being angry.I think the best cure may be art, as it helps remembering and make people aware and concious. I'm reading now "Kolyma's stories" by Šalamov (i don't know if this is the exact translation, in italian is "I racconti della Kolyma"), which with Primo Levi's "If this is a man" it's a perfect example of art with a remembering aim.
